Confirmation

The sacrament of confirmation is one of the sacraments of initiation.  In confirmation you bring to completion what began in baptism, and at the same time is a furthering in living your sacramental life.  The conferral of grace during the sacrament is to strengthen one in faith, for the confession of faith, and to impress an indelible character upon the candidate.  If you want to be a godparent or sponsor to someone entering the church or being baptized, you will need this sacrament.  If you enter a marriage preparation program to have your wedding in the Catholic Church, you will be asked if you have completed this sacrament.  Not all, but a few ministries require one to be confirmed as well.

Those in the RCIA and RCIC programs receive confirmation at the Easter Vigil or sometime thereafter.  For teenagers in our school or religious education program, preparation begins in the seventh grade and concludes with confirmation at the end of the eighth grade. Adult confirmation classes start in the Fall and go through June and conclude around May when Bishop comes to confirm the teens and adults alike.
